I Can't Explain

        I can't explain; I don't know why.
I can't imagine what you'd see in another guy.
        It seems so plain; it's eye to eye;
whatever feelings that we shared have said goodbye.
It's even hard to act my age, but I guess I'll try.

        Mister waiter wait a minute,
can't we have just one more drink?
Don't you see I need some time to think?
It seems so hard; can't find the words.
Cause everything that finds my mouth always sounds absurd.
The trial is through; your plaintiff won,
and my goodbye kisses made your lipstick run.
Now all that's left for us is the dotted line.

I'm putting sugar in my coffee.
Seven spoons may seem a waste,
but it's not enough to kill the bitter taste.

        She rises from the table.
I'd stop her if I was able.
As she heads out toward the door,
I make a scene as I implore her:

        her sense of dedication,
        her moral obligation.
        Why won't she understand?

It's not my fault; she won't forgive.
Well, of course there were other girls that's how I live.
        I don't know why; I can't explain.
Didn't she know that working only hurts my brain.
It wasn't fair that she expected me to change.

Mister waiter, wait a minute. ( wait a minute )
I don't think I have this amount. ( where is my money? )
Can we put this on my wife's account?
        I can't explain. ( I don't know why )
